Voices from the Old Bailey

I am a little late in reporting a great radio program that UK peeps have the privilege of listening to.  Fabulous historian extraordinaire, Amanda Vickery presents Voices from the Old Bailey a radio-documentary on the scandalous court cases of Georgian London.  The first part of this four-part series has already aired but you can (and should) catch the next one at 9:00am (9:30 pm is your second chance).  BBC has a fun preview which everyone can check out here.

These recordings present many of the much maligned and dreaded Crim Con. cases, perhaps one, such as the Tartty Georgiana Fawkener Townshend? I'm intrigued...

@ Pechorin de Veuvray It seems it deals more with riots and civil unrest rather than the tarty gossip we're after. sigh.

I'd have wanted to hear the Barreti one - Johnson AND Goldsmith giving evidence! Pinch my sad obsessed little self.

Very cool!

I wonder though why I can listen to radio on their iPlayer, but can't watch programs on it.

@Veuvray, Amirak, I would hope by the end of the series there should be at least some tarty gossip. It only seems right, doesn't it?

@Grub Street, Ugh, now I'm really kicking myself for not getting the word out sooner!

@Nightmusic, Can you listen to it? I didn't even try since I have had the failed attempts with the TV programs. Don't tell me US peeps can sneak in for a listen!

I can! And I don't get why because the radio has ads just like the TV stuff does, but I can't watch the TV things at all. Well...not quite true. I can if I hack the proxy, but we won't mention that here...

;o)

I think I have listened to this before! I forget when, when was it released?
